CHAN, Yan Ki (Rachel)
Bethlehem College, Tauranga
Start on Aug 2003

Rachel is an intelligent student who has developed her study and time management skills considerably during her time at Bethlehem College. Rachel does not have a lot of confidence when she started in NZ and she is always worried in everything! However, everyone was thrilled when Rachel received two certificates at the 2004 Prize-giving at school. She got a distinction in Year 12 ESOL and a Highly Commended in Mathematics. That is fantastic for a student who only came out of the International School (High School Preparation) in 2003. The high school teachers are very proud of Rachel. She is a different girl from the one who first came to the school and not only is she working academically, but she is also always helping others according to her teachers. She is just a nice kid and everyone loves her at school.

TONG, Kit Ki (Kitki)
Tauranga Girls¡¦ College, Tauranga
Start on Feb 2004

KiKit joined our summer study tour in 2003 and then she decided to study in NZ. Kitki is an outgoing person and she doesn¡¦t like to study in HK. When schooling in NZ, she always willing to help others and also new students. Kitki become very famous in school and she got potential to become good leader. An accident happened in term 3 2004, Kitki and some of her friends was teased by a group of local students on the street while they walking back to homestay. Kitki was very calmed and she didn¡¦t fight back but she remembered what Mrs. Sommerville, the School International Director told her - if she got any problems she needs to ask for help. Then Kitki decided to call Mrs. Sommerville for help. Then Mrs. Sommerville solved the problems and it never happens again after this. Mrs. Sommetville is very pleased by Kitki¡¦s decision and how calm and clever when she handled this kind of problem. Kitki also kept all the emergency contacts with her so she can use them when needed. Kitki didn¡¦t use her own way to handle problems but she followed adults¡¦ advice. She is a good model of other students.
